Punxsy Woman Behind Bars for Allegedly Attacking, Choking Woman

PUNXSUTAWNEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — A Punxsutawney woman is in jail for allegedly assaulting and choking a woman at the victim’s residence on Wednesday morning.

According to court documents, the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department filed the following criminal charges against 54-year-old Jean Paulette Allen, of Punxsutawney, in District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office on Wednesday, April 17:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2
– Strangulation – Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck, Misdemeanor 2

According to a criminal complaint, the incident occurred around 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, at a residence on West Mahoning Street in Punxsutawney Borough, Jefferson County.

The complaint states that Jean Allen–who was allegedly intoxicated–went to a known female woman’s residence, inquiring if the woman was mad at her. When the woman told her she was not mad at her, the two women hugged, and Allen was invited onto the victim’s patio and offered a beer. After consuming the beer, Allen became “very argumentative” and began to yell and “make a lot of noises.”

The victim got up and went inside her residence. She told Allen that she could come inside if she would be quiet while holding up her index finger in an attempt to shush Allen, who “ran inside” and appeared to settle down. Moments later, the two were listening to music when Allen began to yell again. The victim attempted to shush her again in the same manner as before, resulting in Allen attacking the victim, stating “(expletive), get your (expletive) hands out my face,” the complaint indicates.

Allen then shoved the victim to the floor and got on top of her while hitting and choking her. Allen stated to police, “West Coast Style,” the complaint notes.

Allen, after delivering several hard blows to the victim, got up and dialed 9-1-1. Prior to leaving, Allen threw two chairs at the victim, the complaint continues.

Officers arrived on the scene and were flagged down by Allen, who was “obviously manifestly under the influence of drugs or alcohol,” according to the complaint.

Allen approached a police cruiser and said that she “(expletive) that (expletive) up.” She then said she called the ambulance because she “(expletive) that (expletive) up,” the complaint states.

She also stated “This is not my blood,” as she showed police her bloody hands, the complaint indicates.

Allen was arraigned in front of District Judge Bazylak at 3:33 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17

Unable to post $10,000.00 monetary bail, she was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23, with Judge Mizerock presiding.
