Semi Slams into Bear on Roadway in Huston Township; Truck Driver Seriously Injured

CLEARFIELD CO., Pa. (EYT) — A 55-year-old man was seriously injured when his truck struck a bear on the roadway and rolled over in Huston Township, Clearfield County, early Friday morning.

According to Clearfield-based State Police, the crash happened around 4:07 a.m. on Friday, April 19, on Hoovertown Road in Huston Township, Clearfield County.

Police say a 1998 Kenworth Northwest truck driven by 55-year-old Troy A. Morningstar, of Entriken, Pa., struck a bear that entered the roadway. The truck left the roadway after impact and rolled over.

Morningstar was entrapped in the vehicle with suspected serious injuries, according to police.

He was extricated and transported to Penn Highlands DuBois by Bennett’s Valley Ambulance.

He was using a seat belt.
