JEFFERSON/INDIANA CO., Pa. (EYT) — Punxsutawney-based State Police responded to the following incidents:

Investigation Launched Into Gift Card Scam That Cost Area Woman $2,500

According to an April 11 release, troopers received a report of a theft by deception in Banks Township, Indiana County, at 11:34 a.m. on March 29.

Police say an unknown individual claiming to be from PNC Bank scammed the victim into purchasing gift cards and providing the card numbers.

The individual used the alias “Alviro Bedoya,” police said.

The gift cards were for Apple (value $2,000.00) and Walmart ($500.00).

The victim is a 65-year-old Rossiter woman.

This investigation is ongoing.

ChildLine Reports Spur Investigations in Perry Township

PSP Punxsutawney troopers are investigating a pair of ChildLine reports from two incidents on Hamilton Porter Road in Perry Township, Jefferson County.

Police say the first incident involved harassment of a infant female from Perry Township at 1:55 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10.

The second incident happened at 2:02 p.m. on April 10, involving reported indecent assault of a six-year-old female from Punxsutawney.

These investigations are ongoing.
